Derrick Snowden

Archbishop Spalding, boys basketball

The 6-foot senior point guard had 63 points and 18 assists in three games to lead the Cavs to second place at the Alhambra Tournament in Frostburg. Snowden, who has signed with Villanova, scored 28 points in the final vs. DeMatha. The two-time All-Met and two-time Anne Arundel Player of the Year was named the event's Outstanding Player and was named to the all-tournament team for the second straight year. Snowden, Spalding's career leader in points (1,404) and assists (695), will play in the Capital Classic.

Joy Gorham

Western, girls basketball

Renowned for her defense, the 5-foot-9 senior forward showed her offensive prowess in the Baltimore City/County All-Star Game. Gorham had 12 points and four rebounds to help the city stars to a 74-58 win over the county stars at CCBC-Essex. She played a key role in the Doves' run to a Class 4A North regional title. A second-team All-Baltimore City/County pick in basketball and volleyball, Gorham will play basketball at Northeastern University.
