St. Patrick's night yields 11 DUI arrests

The Howard County Police Department arrested 11 motorists during a sobriety checkpoint St. Patrick's night and early yesterday on northbound U.S. 1, south of Davis Avenue in Laurel.

Police, assisted by Maryland State Police troopers and the Howard chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, arrested the motorists on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The checkpoint was conducted from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. The Howard department says it will conduct similar checkpoints at other locations soon.
