Welsh leads way as contractors are honored

The Maryland Improvement Contractors Association said Welsh Construction and Remodeling Co. of Baltimore was the top recipient at its annual awards dinner.

The company received two Remodelor of the Year honors, in the residential kitchens under $25,000 and residential bath over $15,000 categories, and two awards of merit.

Other awards were presented to: ARDO Contracting Co., residential interior and residential historical; ADR Builders, residential kitchen $25,000 and over, and residential specialty; E. T. Contractors, residential bath under $15,000; BGE Home Products and Services, residential exterior under $50,000; American Contracting, residential exterior over $50,000; Jack Ryan Inc., entire house; Gilday Design and Remodeling, residential bath over $15,000; and Bimini Builders, commercial project.

Awards of Merit were presented to: ARDO Contracting Co., Glickman Signature and Design, Quality Floor Service and All American Windows and Siding.

The Chesapeake Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services, which promotes marketing and management in the architectural, engineering and construction industry, said it presented a $1,000 scholarship to Steven Gleich of Loyola College and a $500 scholarship to Sarah Burgess of Towson University.

Century 21 Diana Realty Inc. said these sales associates have completed the company's Plus Training Program: Lynn Schmidt, Tony Lorenzen, Don Berry, Lisa Hagy, Henrietta Peters, Dianne Hebert, Andreas Galanis and Kathy Letterman.

American SkyCorp Inc. of Timonium said it has expanded its Wholesale Lending Division into West Virginia and North Carolina.

Christmas in April, the national nonprofit organization that helps needy homeowners with repairs, has opened a chapter in Harford County. The chapter will hold its first Rebuilding Day April 29 to help five local families with home repairs.

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn ERA sales associate Diana Hirschhorn said she had more than $1.1 million in closed sales in January, making her the top-selling agent in the Bel Air/Forest Hill office. Edward Hirschhorn has joined her sales team as an associate broker.

NRT Mid-Atlantic said ERA Clover Realty of Hagerstown has become part of O'Conor, Piper & Flynn ERA, one of its operating companies.

Coldwell Banker Grempler Realty Inc. said sales associate Mary Borowy has been awarded the Certified Residential Specialist Designation by the Council of Residential specialists, a not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.

Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. said Scott Haupt of its Timonium office has been awarded the Certified Residential Specialist Designation from the Council of Residential specialists, a not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.

The National Association of Home Builders named Donna Reichle director of media relations.
