Police seek three men in Odenton motel robbery

March 18, 2000

Anne Arundel County police are looking for three armed robbers who bound a Severn man with a telephone cord, ransacked his Odenton motel room and stole his valuables while his girlfriend's toddlers slept nearby.

Police issued an arrest warrant yesterday for one of the three suspects: Derrick T. Myles, 24, of Gambrills, who has been charged with armed robbery, assault, theft, carrying a concealed weapon and related offenses.

The robbery, which was reported late Thursday at the Royal Inn on Annapolis Road, "was not a random act of violence," said Detective Jeffrey Silverman.

The victim knew his attackers, Silverman said.

Police say one of the suspects was carrying a short-barrel revolver and another was carrying a box cutter. They allegedly stole the victim's leather jacket, cash, two Sony PlayStations, a VCR and a pager.

The robbers did not hurt the two toddlers, said Silverman.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 410-222-8700.
