On May 4, nine to receive Small Business Awards

The U.S. Small Business Administration's Baltimore district office has announced its Small Business Awards. The winners will be honored at a breakfast May 4 at Martin's West in Woodlawn.

Richard O. Huffman III, of the Enchanted Child Care Learning Centers in Towson, has been named Small Business Person of the Year. Enchanted Child Care has facilities in Howard County. Huffman is a member of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce.

Thomas K. Bowman, Bowman & Company, CPA, PC in Columbia, has been named Accountant Advocate of the Year.

Carole Pickett, of the Columbia newspaper, The Business Monthly, has been named Media Advocate of the Year.

Carolyn West Price, of IMPACT Marketing & Public Relations Inc., Ellicott City, has been named Women in Business Advocate.

Deepak Jain, of AiNET in Columbia, has been named Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Timothy Storch, of Farmers & Mechanics National Bank in Columbia, has been named Financial Services Advocate.

Henry E. Posko Jr., of Developmental Services Group Inc., Columbia, has been named Welfare to Work Small Business Owner.

Robert Henig, of Bob's BMW in Jessup, has been named runner-up for Entrepreneurial Success.

Jennine Anderson, of Peacock, Condron & Anderson & Co. in Columbia, has been named runner-up for Accountant Advocate of the Year.

Susan L. Behen joins Macon surgical practice

Dr. Susan L. Behen has joined the surgical practice of Dr. Michael G. Maconas a partner.

Behen is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

The practice is in the Medical Arts Building, 11085 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

Columbia Bank announces new vice presidents

The Columbia Bank has promoted Jeff McCarron as vice president of its Ellicott City branch and Brandt Rider as assistant vice president of the Fairgrounds Plaza branch in Timonium.

Tim Macek has been named assistant vice president of the bank's River Hill branch, and Carolyn Norwood has been named vice president of the Heaver Plaza branch in Lutherville.

Sandy Mutolo and Lisa Rhodes have been promoted to vice presidents of retail operations; Ben Clements has been promoted to vice president of acquisition, development and construction lending; Michael Torcisi has been promoted to vice president of consumer lending, and Darryl Becker has been promoted to assistant vice president of secondary mortgages.

Hugh "Bruz" Meade has been named assistant vice president of retail underwriting.
