Are you looking for something new and unusual to do with your kids?

Check out the Kidz Convention at Turf Valley Resort and Conference Center in Ellicott City on March 19 from noon to 5 p.m. The event, sponsored by Turf Valley, Howard County General Hospital and Comcast Cable Television, will feature more than 20 vendors including camps, stores, schools, local attractions and entertainers.

"In essence the convention, which is geared toward families with kids up to 12 years old, will serve as one-stop shopping. Parents and kids will hopefully be able to have any of their questions and concerns answered at the conference through our vendors and seminars," says Regina Ford, marketing director of Turf Valley Resort and Conference Center.

For parents, there will be seminars on topics including child safety, the Internet and progressive play. Kids will get to see the latest clothing in fashion shows throughout the day.

One of the highlights is likely to be the Animal Planet's Scales and Tales wildlife display, which will allow kids to get an up-close-and-personal look at live wild animals.

Admission is $6 for a family of four, $3 for a single guest. Children under 3 are free.

All activities will take place at Turf Valley Resort, 2700 Turf Valley Road in Ellicott City. For more information, call 410-465-1500 Ext. 2232.
