Two young sisters have told Baltimore police that a man in a pickup truck tried to abduct them Monday afternoon, a few blocks from a school in the Morrell Park neighborhood.

One of the girls also told authorities that she saw a woman with tape over her mouth in the open bed of the man's truck.

Police blanketed the area yesterday with detectives and patrol cars but reported no leads in the case. They also handed out fliers with the man's description and are sharing information with police in Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties.

The incident occurred about 4: 30 p.m. The girls, 5 and 10, said they were walking in the 3000 block of Huron Ave., near Morrell Park Elementary and Middle School, when a man driving a white pickup truck stopped near them.

Agent Ragina L. Cooper, a city police spokeswoman, said the 10-- year-old reported being grabbed by her neck and touched in a sexual manner. Both girls said they screamed, and the driver sped off.

The girls did not get a license plate number, but described the driver as a white male about 5 foot 4 inches tall and 125 pounds. His hair was cut in a Mohawk style, and a tattoo was visible on his scalp.

He was wearing a blue Polo shirt and blue jeans with a hole in one knee. The 10-year-old told police she had seen the man in the area before. No description of the woman in the truck was given.

"Detectives are reinterviewing the children," Cooper said. "We are treating this seriously."

Anyone with information is urged to call the Baltimore Police robbery unit, which also investigates abductions, at 410-396-2636.
