Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Southern District

Shooting: A man, 21, was in the 1100 block of S. Monroe St. about 9 p.m. yesterday when he saw two men walking toward him. Fearing he would be robbed, he turned and walked away. One of the men shot him in the buttocks with a handgun. The victim was treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Northern District

Assault: A man, 45, was in the 2100 block of Huntingdon Ave. about 12: 30 a.m. yesterday when he saw another man trying to break into a car and moved to intervene. The suspected robber pulled what appeared to be a rifle or shotgun and robbed the man of his wallet containing an unknown sum of cash. The robbery victim then got into a struggle with the gunman during which a shot was fired from the gun, striking the car. The gunman struck the victim with the weapon and fled. The victim was treated for head injuries at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Gun theft: A 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun with an unknown serial number and a Dan Western-brand .357-caliber Magnum revolver with serial No. 126104, all valued at nearly $800, were stolen from a house in the 4400 block of St. Georges Ave. over the weekend.

Northwestern District

Guns stolen: A Smith & Wesson .357-caliber Magnum handgun with serial No. BNK0842 and a Smith & Wesson 9 mm semiautomatic handgun with serial No. PNC7207 were stolen from a house in the 2300 block of Oswego Ave. between March 1 and Monday. The weapons had a combined value of $1,000.

Eastern District

Robbery: After cashing a check for $600, a man, 71, was getting into his car in the 1600 block of Harford Ave. about 11 a.m. Sunday when a man armed with a knife robbed him. During a struggle, the victim was cut on the left hand.

Arson: A flammable liquid was used to set fire to the second floor of a vacant house in the 1200 block of N. Gay St. early Monday. Damage was estimated at $3,000.

Baltimore County

Parkville Precinct

Burglary: Someone broke into a house in the 7700 block of Hillsway Ave. early Monday while the occupant slept and stole $73 and a set of keys. The intruder, who entered through a basement door, escaped in the victim's blue 1994 Mazda Protege with tags YMH 925.
