A former Glenwood Middle School teacher was sentenced to six months in jail and five years of probation after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated and contributing to the delinquency of a minor last year.

Klaude Krannebitter, 36, taught health in Howard County schools for 12 years before resigning early last year after county police accused him of paying a 15-year-old boy to perform sex acts. Krannebitter pleaded guilty in September.

Howard County Circuit Judge Lenore R. Gelfman sentenced Krannebitter to begin serving his jail term in March 2001, after undergoing mental health counseling for a year at his own expense. She also ordered Krannebitter to pay a $1,300 fine.

A Baltimore County grand jury indicted Krannebitter on separate charges involving the same 15-year-old. Krannebitter was also sentenced to probation in that case, officials said.
