A man fatally shot three people, including a husband and wife, during a dispute with his girlfriend at an apartment complex in the Bowleys Quarters area last night, Baltimore County police said.

Capt. Joseph Burris, commander of the Essex Precinct, said the man forced his girlfriend into a late-model, light blue or green Dodge Caravan after the shooting and that police were searching for the vehicle early today.

Police did not release the name of the suspect or the names of the victims. They also said they did not have a motive in the killings.

Burris said the man found dead outside the building, also a resident of the apartment complex, was shot when he went to the aid of the girlfriend.

Police said the shootings at the Town & Country Bowleys Quarters Apartments in the 3700 block of White Pine Road -- the third, fourth and fifth homicides in the county this year -- took place about 8: 30 p.m.

Officers and paramedics found the bodies of a couple in a basement apartment at 507 Bowleys Quarters Road, both dead of bullet wounds. The body of a man was found nearby, outside a building at 3710 White Pine Road.

Late last night, about a dozen detectives and police officers walked between the buildings at Bowleys Quarters and White Pine roads looking for clues.

Residents reported hearing six to eight gunshots.
