Winfield honors top fire volunteers of the past year

Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department named Scott Seibert Firefighter of the Year and Tracey Smith Rookie of the Year for 1999 at its annual installation and awards banquet.

The top fire responders last year were: John Laster, Zach Schneider, Sean Ellis, Robin Lamb, Dave Wallace, Barry Schneider, Mike Fogle, Rodney Valentine, Wayne Logue and Sandy McKenzie.

FOR THE RECORD - An article about Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department awards in the Carroll County edition of The Sun on March 6 should have named Zachary Schneider as Winfield's 1999 Firefighter of the Year.
The Sun regrets the error.

The top ambulance responders were: Scott Seibert, Rodney Valentine, Zach Schneider, Dave Wallace, Mike Fogle, David Bettinger, Chrissy Hopple, Eddie Zepp, Gene Naill and Greg Dods.

Ladies auxiliary top fund-raiser and service hour awards went to: Ruth Buckingham, Ruth Shaw, Ruth Gosnell, Julia Franklin, Bessie Barber, Elsie Will, Becky Ruckman, Ann Kolpack, Barbara Zepp and Hilda Gardner.

The company also remembered deceased members Ed Haugh, Peggy Logue and Connie Kemp during a memorial service.

Winfield: Firefighters from Winfield, Gamber and New Windsor responded at 12: 26 p.m. Thursday to a house fire in the 800 block of Chanter Drive. Units were out 54 minutes.
