Agency tests prospects for census employment

Workers to have duties in their communities

The Bureau of the Census is testing prospective census takers, crew leaders and office clerks for the 2000 Census. The tests are given weekdays and some Saturdays around the county.

The bureau needs temporary staff to make sure everyone is counted in the 2000 Census in Carroll County.

Census workers work in their community, set their hours and can be reimbursed for authorized expenses. All positions are paid competitive wages.

Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Bring two forms of identification.

Tests are given as follows:

Every Monday at 2 p.m. this month at Maryland Job Service, 125 Airport Drive, Westminster.

Every Monday at 6: 30 p.m. this month at Eldersburg branch library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive.

Every Tuesday at 9 a.m. this month at the Department of Social Services, 10 Distillery Drive, Westminster.

Every Tuesday at 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. every Thursday this month at the Business and Employment Resource Center, 224 N. Center St., Westminster.

Tuesdays at 10 a.m. March 7, 14 and 21 at Union Bridge Town Hall, 104 W. Locust St.

Tuesday 6 p.m. March 7, 14 and 21 at Mount Airy branch library, 705 Ridge Ave.

Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. this month at Manchester Town Hall, 3208 York St.

Wednesdays at 6 p.m. March 8, 15 and 22 at South Carroll Senior Center, 5745 Bartholow Road, Eldersburg.

Every Friday at 10 a.m. this month at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church, 2101 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg.

At 10 a.m. March 11, 2 p.m. March 17 and 2 p.m. March 28 at the North Carroll branch library, 2255 Hanover Pike.

At 2 p.m. March 9 and 2 p.m. March 24 at Hampstead Town Hall, 1034 S. Carroll St.

At 6 p.m. March 9, 2 p.m. March 14, 10 a.m. March 25 and 2 p.m. March 29 at Taneytown branch library, 10 Grand Drive.
