The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

East Columbia

Loveknot Place: 6200 block, Owen Brown. A 55-year-old man was robbed of his wallet by two gunmen wearing ski masks. Police said the robbers were armed with shotguns and accosted the victim as he was walking from his car to his home about 9: 30 p.m. Thursday.

Watercress Place: 5400 block, Long Reach. A wallet and credit card were stolen Thursday from a home by a burglar who got into a house through a window.

Hayshed Lane and Tamar Drive: Long Reach. A 13-year-old was walking his pit bull Sunday when six men got out of a car and one of them hit the youth in the face. They took the dog and drove away.

West Columbia

Columbia Road: 5200 block, Dorsey's Search. Someone entered a house through a rear window Feb. 18 and ransacked it. Nothing was taken.

Columbia Road: 5600 block, Dorsey's Search. Someone threw a rock through a sliding glass door at the back of a house and ransacked it Feb. 18. Nothing was taken.

April Journey: 5500 block, Dorsey's Search. A handgun and money was stolen Feb. 23 from a home by a burglar who got into the house by kicking a back door open.

Hickory Ridge Road: 10000 block. Hickory Ridge. A 47-year-old man was attacked by three men who tried to rob him about 4 a.m. Sunday. Police said the victim was taking out the trash after closing the Airang Hill Sub Shop when the robbers approached him. When he would not give them his money, they hit him in the face with a gun and fled.

Ellicott City

Plumtree Drive: 3400 block. Ellicott City. A burglar broke into a third-floor apartment and stole clothing Feb. 15.

Wheaton Way: 3200 block. Ellicott City. A woman told police she met a man at a bar Sunday, and he went home with her. The man became drunk and she let him spend the night. When the woman woke up, the man was sexually assaulting her. Later, the woman drove the man to his car and then called police. Police have not identified the man.


Kit Kat Road: 7100 block, Jessup. A television, videocassette recorder, stereo and satellite dish were taken by a burglar who forced his way through the front door Feb. 18.

Assateague Drive: 7400 block, Jessup. A truck driver who was parking his rig on the lot at Truckers Inn was robbed at 11: 30 p.m. Sunday. The robbers threatened to shoot him before taking his wallet.

North Laurel/Savage

Stebbing Way: 9000 block, North Laurel. Responding to a report of a fight Feb. 19, police found a man with a head injury. Police charged Walter Herschel Allen, 48, and Michele Midkiff, 31, both of 9500 block of Baroness Court in Laurel, with second-degree assault. The victim was treated at a hospital and released.

All Saints Road: 9200 block, North Laurel. An Exxon gas station was robbed about 1: 16 a.m. Sunday. Police said the robber, who was hiding in the office and when the clerk started to leave for the night, demanded money and cigarettes. He made the clerk lie on the floor and kicked him several times before leaving with the cash and cigarettes.

Other incidents

Students charged: County police have charged 11 students from Glenelg and River Hill high schools with drug violations after a 2 1/2-month investigation into marijuana distribution at the schools. After searching three homes and nine cars, police seized 1 pound, 2 ounces of marijuana, paraphernalia and $1,134 in cash. Police refused to release further details about the investigation.
