Balanced scoring gets Ga. Tech past UM women

ATLANTA -- Milli Martinez led a trio of double-digit scorers with 14 points as Georgia Tech beat Maryland, 60-49, in Atlantic Coast Conference women's basketball yesterday.

Deedee Warley and Marche Strickland scored 18 and 14 points, respectively, for the Terps (14-13, 5-11).

Georgia Tech (14-12, 7-9) shot 41.7 percent from the field to Maryland's 38.3.

Georgia Tech scored 40 points in the paint to Maryland's 28, and the Yellow Jackets scored 15 points off turnovers to the Terps' eight. Jaime Kruppa added 13 points for the Yellow Jackets.

Maryland plays Florida State on Friday in an opening-round game of the ACC tournament.
