Anthony Fitzgerald converted Kenny Wood's pass into a layup with two seconds left to give Poly a 54-52 victory over visiting Owings Mills in a Class 2A North regional boys basketball game last night.

Deirain Edmond made six of eight three-point attempts, five in the first quarter, to finish with a game-high 23 points for Polly (4-19). Owings Mills (11-9) tied the score in the closing minute on Carren Carter's basket. Denard Abraham led the Eagles with 20 points.

Class 4A North

Lake Clifton 39, No. 11 Southwestern 35: Guards Tyrone Burns and Aaron Cook scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, to lead the visiting Lakers. Ronald Jefferson had 15 rebounds for Lake Clifton (12-6).

No. 17 Northwestern 67, Northern 47: George Lawson scored 16 and Gordy Clark added 12 to power the visiting Wildcats (15-6) past the Vikings (5-14). Phillip Eldridge had 25 points for Northern.

Woodlawn 84, Patterson 41: Ishmael Robinson scored a season-high 33 points and Jeff Garnett added 16 for host Woodlawn, which will play at Walbrook on Tuesday.

Mervo 58, Perry Hall 52: Marcus Hassan scored 22, 18 in the second half, to lift the Mustangs (10-8) over the Gators (14-9).

Class 3A North

Carver 77, Franklin 45: Kenny Jones scored 16 and Joel Gamble added 10 for the visiting Bears (12-8).

Class 2A South

Potomac 53, Mount Hebron 51: Brandon Thomas made four three-pointers and finished with 18 points for visiting Potomac (9-10). Eric Toback scored 26 for Mount Hebron (11-12).

Howard 63, Lackey 50: Darius Hammond scored 32 and added 10 rebounds and five assists, and Louis Matthews had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the visiting Lions (8-13).

Class 2A North

Edmondson 74, Hereford 43: Keyron Posey scored 23 to lead the Redskins (10-8), who will play Overlea on Tuesday. Steve Goad led Hereford with 19 points.

Class 2A East

North Harford 56, James Bennett 38: Mark Kamyszek scored 13, and Justin Phelps scored 12 and had 17 rebounds to lead North Harford (5-15).

Class 1A North

Forest Park 67, Bohemian Manor 18: Sheldon Campbell scored 18 and Jared Washington added 15 for the Foresters.


Class 4A North

Perry Hall 70, Patterson 32: Darby Burke contributed with 23 points, three rebounds and four steals, and Nicole Pugaczwski had nine points and nine rebounds to lead the Gators (13-9). Perry Hall will play Mervo on Tuesday.

Parkville 63, Woodlawn 30: On the strength of Michelle Mannela's 14 points and Stephanie Curnoles' 12, the host Knights (14-9) won.

Class 4A East

Meade 47, North County 32: Janet Lofton led the Mustangs (12-11) with nine points. Stephanie Watts and Brittaney Boyd each had 10 points for the Knights (10-12).

Class 3A East

Annapolis 56, Long Reach 34: Paula Postell scored a career-high 33 to pace the Panthers (5-17) over Long Reach (2-21).

Class 3A North

Eastern Tech 50, Franklin 39: April Stevenson had a game-high 13 points for the Mavericks (12-11). Nikey McCollum added 10 points for Eastern Tech, which plays at Bel Air on Monday.

Class 3A West

Liberty 46, Thomas Johnson 28: Lauryn Smith scored 16 points to spark the host Lions (12-11).

Class 2A South

Hammond 47, Centennial 43, OT: Hammond (9-12) scored the first six points in overtime on baskets by Erin Travis and Melissa Workman and free throws by Tara Zammichieli to defeat host Centennial (11-12). Workman had 11 points and Zammichieli 10 for Hammond, which will play Central on Tuesday.

Howard 59, Atholton 51: Tamara Jackson had 12 points to lead the visiting Lions (9-14) past Atholton (3-20).

Southern-AA 57, Potomac 44: Tori Peddicord had 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Lyndsey Boswell scored 10 for Southern.

Class 2A North

Edmondson 56, Towson 48: Kimberly Terrell scored 19 and Connie McCollough added 14 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Redskins.

Poly 38, Lansdowne 35: Tia Wilson's free throws with four seconds left capped Poly's victory.

City 80, Loch Raven 18: Jeanne Akandi scored 15 and Amanda Evans 11 in City's rout.

Class 2A East

Easton 43, Edgewood 37: Tara Coursey's 18 points weren't enough for the Rams (11-11).

Class 1A North

Pikesville 54, Carver A&T 33: Lori Parson scored 32 points to lift the Panthers. Debbe Salvino had 11 points for Carver A&T.

MACS Tournament

Chapelgate 36, Pallotti 35: Laura Starsoneck's free throw with a minute left lifted the Flames (21-4) in a semifinal game of the Maryland Association of Christian Schools Tournament.
