For much of this season, Erin Perdue has been a role player for C. Milton Wright. Last night against host North Harford, she continued to play a role -- only this time, it was the starring one.

Perdue scored 12 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, as the Mustangs claimed the Harford County championship with a 67-61 win.

"They were keying on the other [players], and it was like, `Who's Erin Perdue?' " said C. Milton Wright coach John Harvey, whose team avenged its only loss of the season. "She played the game of her life."

The victory clinched the Mustangs' first county title since 1995-96, improving them to 13-1 in the county. North Harford (15-6) is 11-2 with one game remaining.

The loss denied North Harford its third straight county title.

North Harford held the upper hand much of the way, building its lead to as much as eight.

Led by guard Paige Heath (16 points) and forward Bernadette Colvin (14 points), however, the Mustangs (18-1) rallied back, taking the lead for good, 51-50, on Stacie Johnson's 12-footer with 6 minutes left.

Perdue then stepped up with a pair of crucial 12-foot jump shots, including one with 32 seconds left that extended her team's lead to 65-61.

Guard Jennifer Griffin led North Harford with a game-high 22 points. Monica Joines added 17.
