A southwest Baltimore County apartment fire destroyed two units and sent two people to the hospital early yesterday morning.

Joseph Dill Jr. and his wife, Rachel, were transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where they were treated for burns and smoke inhalation.

Rachel Dill was released yesterday morning. Joseph Dill was transferred to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition in the burn center yesterday.

The two-alarm fire started in a heating unit in the couple's top-story apartment in the 4100 block of Annapolis Road at about 2: 15 a.m. yesterday, said Mark Hubbard, a Baltimore County Fire Department spokesman.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing, he said.

The blaze, which firefighters brought under control in about an hour, caused an estimated $100,000 worth of damage, Hubbard said.
