New positions

Engelau is general manager of Southern Maryland Oil

Southern Maryland Oil named Roger Engelau vice president and general manager of the La Plata-based subsidiary of the Wills Group Inc.

Formerly with the Clorox Corp., he is a resident of Calvert County and is a U.S. Military Academy graduate. Engelau joined the company in 1992 as general sales manager.

Computer I/0 names Sallam VP, chief technology officer

Computer I/O Corp., based in Laurel, appointed Hussein Sallam as chief technology officer and vice president of engineering.

Formerly a vice president with Xybernaut Corp., in Fairfax, Va., Sallam is an engineering graduate of Boston University and holds an MBA from Arizona State University.


Davis, Moses, Fisher join Campbell Group

The Campbell Group hired Sallyann Davis as an account supervisor, Dana Moses as senior art director and Daron Fisher as a senior copywriter at the Baltimore marketing communications firm.

Davis, formerly marketing director for Pohanka Automotive Group, supervises an account cov- ering 70 hotels in about 14 countries.

Moses, a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, and Fisher, who graduated from C. W. Post, are Baltimore residents and both were with Trahan, Burden & Charles.

Cooper joins Reeves as PR coordinator

The Reeves Agency, based at the Inner Harbor, named Ian L. Cooper a public relations coordinator.

A master's degree candidate at Towson University, Cooper is responsible for writing, event coordination, public and media relations. He formerly was with Baltimore Magazine.

Banking and finance

Eight take positions with First Union Securities

First Union Securities Inc. has added six institutional salesmen to its Baltimore-based institutional sales group. They are Beau Volley, Matt Snyder, Brian Fitzgerald, Kevin Marra, Liam Healy and Chuck Gulledge.

The firm also hired Marty Donnelly as a sales associate and Bo Jarrett, who will assist in managing the institutional marketing desk.

Institutional salesmen market investment banking products and services to large clients, such as pension and mutual funds.

Legal and insurance

Abel, Fowler, Silverman, Hagen join Ober Kaler

Ober, Kaler, Grimes & Shriver elected Kenneth B. Abel, J. Kirby Fowler Jr., Randall L. Hagen and Nancy Silverman as principals in the Baltimore-based law firm.

Abel, in the business law department, specializes in mergers, acquisitions and security matters. He is a University of Marylandgraduate and a board member of the Bar Library of Baltimore City.

Fowler, in the firm's employment law group, focuses on civil litigation involving contracts, labor, employment and trade secrets. The Baltimore resident is a graduate of New York University.

Hagen, in the creditors' rights and workouts section, specializes in civil litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings. A law graduate of the University of Maryland, he is a member of the American Bar Association and the Bankruptcy Bar Association. He lives in Randallstown.

Silverman is assigned to the firm's white-collar criminal defense division and formerly was a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice. A Bethesda resident, she is a graduate of the Brooklyn Law School and is in the law firm's Washington office.


McCrone names Fernandez senior project manager

McCrone Inc. hired Robert M. Fernandez as a senior project manager for the Annapolis-based engineering and survey firm.

A resident of Anne Arundel County, Fernandez is a graduate of Texas A&M University and active with the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Maryland and national societies of professional engineers.
