Volunteers Needed

Area schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills and to assist in related projects.

Among them are:

Point Pleasant Elementary School, 1035 Dumbarton Road, Glen Burnie, which is recruiting volunteers to help children in grades one through five for an afternoon homework club that meets from 2: 25 p.m. to 3: 30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursdays. Contact: Gail Sissorow, 410-222-6425.

Baltimore Department of Aging is seeking volunteers age 55 and older to tutor elementary and middle school pupils in reading as part of the department's Retired and Seniors Volunteer Program. Information: 410-887-2059.
