Prekup and Hamlington are named South Carroll students of the month

South Carroll High School seniors Dana Prekup and Peter Hamlington were recently named students of the month by the school's Student Recognition Committee.

Dana is a 4.0 grade point average student, vice president of the National Honor Society and president of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America. She also is a class representative and member of the Student Government Association.

She has won numerous scholar awards. The daughter of Marilyn and Dan Prekup of Mount Airy, she plans to attend Virginia Tech and study interior design.

The son of Gary and Jeanette Hamlington, Peter is founder of the school's Engineering Club and vice president of the Environmental Club. He has run cross country and played tennis and worked on the solar car project in his junior year.

He is a member of NHS and competed in the Physics Olympics, and has won several academic awards. He plans to study physics in college and hopes to start an engineering company.
