Millersville man gets 2 consecutive life terms in killings

A 20-year-old Anne Arundel County man was sentenced yesterday to two consecutive life terms for killing two Baltimore men in an attempted robbery.

Judge John C. Themelis gave Michael Yancy the sentence in Baltimore Circuit Court.

Yancy, a Millersville resident, was convicted of killing Brice Shufford, 35, of the 3800 block of Elmora Ave. and James Victor Henderson, 35, of the 3500 block of Chesterfield Ave.

The attempted robbery took place Jan. 13 last year in the 1800 block of N. Milton Ave.

The men were shot in the neck, stomach and back.

It was the first double homicide of 1999.
