Laurel Stamp Fair

The nation's No. 1 hobby, stamp-collecting, will be posted at the Laurel Maryland Stamp Fair Sunday. Philatelics (stamp collectors) will gather from across the state to view rare and valuable stamps. Featured will be 25 dealers, an area for young collectors, a hospitality area staffed by the Bowie Stamp Club and more. Stamp appraisals will also be offered and door prizes worth more than $500 in merchandise will be drawn.

The Laurel Maryland Stamp Fair takes place 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at the Best Western Maryland Inn, 15101 Sweitzer Lane. Free. Call 301-776-5300.

'Does George Washington Sleep Here?'

Why was George Washington never smiling in any of his portraits? Learn all about his dentistry Sunday at the National Museum of Dentistry. Open Space Arts will perform "Does George Washington Sleep Here?" a theatrical production about the relationship between the nation's first president and his dentist, Dr. John Greenwood. Learn about Washington's dental troubles, his gradual loss of teeth, overall health and public image. Families in attendance will also be able to wear powdered wigs and three-cornered hats and eat cherry pie.

The event runs 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at the Dr. Samuel D. Harris National Museum of Dentistry, University of Maryland, Baltimore, 31 S. Greene St., $4.50; $2.50 students, children over 6 and seniors; children 6 and under free. Call 410-706-0810.
