Mike Faust

Gilman, wrestling

The senior heavyweight won five matches last week, four by pins and one by technical fall. Faust, 35-0 and ranked No. 1 nationally at 215 pounds, won dual-meet matches against John Carroll on Monday and Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday. Then he won his third straight Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association championship Saturday. He was selected the tournament's outstanding wrestler, scoring a 25-10 technical fall against Colin Doyle of Loyola in the finals.

Lauren Betzing

John Carroll, swimming

The freshman's overpowering performance in Thursday's Harford County Championships helped the Patriots capture their fifth straight girls title. Betzing earned four gold medals at the meet, winning the 100-meter freestyle in 55.54 seconds, the 200 freestyle in 2: 00.54 -- which was a personal record -- and swimming legs of the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams. She finished her regular season by going undefeated in all four events.
