Howard Crime Report

The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

East Columbia

Vollmerhausen Road: 9200 block, Kings Contrivance. A lamp and credenza were stolen from a house between Jan. 22 and Feb. 4.

Morningmist Lane: 11700 block, Harper's Choice. A woman's purse was stolen from her home Feb. 7. Police believe the burglar got into the house through an unlocked garage door and found the purse on the kitchen table. The woman did not know her purse was stolen until a neighbor found it and returned it to her.

West Columbia

April Journey: 5600 block, Dorsey's Search. A resident returned home Thursday and noticed that someone had been in the house. The bedrooms were ransacked but nothing was taken.

Twin Rivers Road: 10300 block, Wilde Lake. Pry marks were found on the door of a home Feb. 8, but no one got into the house.

Trumpeter Road: 5400 block, Wilde Lake. An 18-year-old man told police he was walking on a path behind Wilde Lake High School about 6: 32 p.m. Feb. 9 when a man with a gun attacked him and demanded money. The teen-ager pulled a knife and cut the gunman on the hand. The teen ran to the high school, where he told a police officer, who was working security at a basketball game, of the incident. Police apprehended a suspect a short time later in front of the school. While officers were questioning him, the 18-year-old attacked him and kicked him, police said. Both men were arrested. Officers did not find a gun. Columbia resident Robert Jennings, 19, was charged with attempted robbery and Arthur McChesney, 18, also of Columbia, was charged with second-degree assault, police said.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Baltimore National Pike: 10100 block, Ellicott City. Two men robbed Little George's Convenience Store about 6: 23 p.m. Feb. 11. Police said the first man walked into the store and asked the clerk about buying some food. He left the store and the second robber walked in and showed the clerk a gun and demanded money. The clerk turned over the cash and the robber ran out the store.

Western Howard

Hayloft Court: 3200 block, Woodbine. A burglar pried open the side door of a garage Feb. 9 or 10, and broke into a van. Nothing was taken.

Florence Road: 3100 block, Woodbine. A television, printer, camera and jewelry were taken from a house Thursday.

Lisbon Center Drive: 700 block, Lisbon. Police said a gunman wearing a ski mask walked into the McDonald's restaurant in Lisbon about 9: 43 p.m. Feb. 9 and ordered two clerks to the back. The gunman forced the manager to open the safe and, after taking money, ran from the restaurant. Police have issued an arrest warrant charging Michael Raymond Collins, 31, with robbery. The warrant also charges Collins with first-degree assault, felony theft and handgun violations, police said.
