Man charged in attempted child abduction

February 13, 2000|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

After a monthlong investigation, state police arrested a 32-year-old Carroll County man Friday in connection with the attempted abduction of a Manchester child in December.

David L. Simpson of the 3600 block of Schalk Road in Manchester was being held without bail in the Carroll County Detention Center yesterday.

He was charged with attempting to abduct a child under age 12, police said.

The school system had issued warnings last month to parents of Manchester Elementary School pupils and to school bus drivers to look out for a particular car, which was described in letters distributed throughout Manchester.

Anyone with information about other abduction attempts is asked to contact state police at 410- 386-3000.
