Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Eastern District

Shootings: Several men were standing near an alley in the 2000 block of E. Lafayette Ave. about 8: 30 p.m. Tuesday when a passenger in a passing vehicle fired several shots, wounding one of them and a bystander. The man in the group was shot in the right forearm and the bullet entered his chest, said Detective Anthony Vaeth. The bystander, 36, was shot in the chest. Both were in critical but stable condition yesterday at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Vaeth said. No arrests had been made and police knew of no motive.

Northern District

Burglary: Property valued at nearly $2,000 was stolen Tuesday from a house in the 500 block of E. 43rd St. Taken were four windows, a portable heater, plumbing tools, a sump pump, refrigerator, a wet-dry vacuum and a 40-gallon water heater.

Southwestern District

Burglary: Someone entered a house in the first block of N. Woodington Road between Jan. 18 and Monday and stole a 27-inch television and a videocassette recorder, all valued at more than $400. The burglary was reported Tuesday.

Burglary: A television, videocassette recorder and a radio, all valued at nearly $400, were stolen Monday from a house in the 1800 block of N. Ellamont St.

Southern District

Burglary: Computer equipment and a telephone, all valued at more than $4,000, were stolen from Liselynx in the 1100 block of Wicomico St. between Dec. 5 and Friday. The burglary was reported yesterday.

Robbery: A gunman wearing a brown jumpsuit and sunglasses robbed General Nutrition Center in the 800 block of E. Fort Ave. of more than $200 about 2: 30 p.m. yesterday.

Baltimore County

Cockeysville Precinct

Burglary: Money from three cash registers, a poker machine and a jukebox, and three cartons of cigarettes, all valued at more than $600, were stolen Tuesday from Maryland Line Inn in the 21300 block of York Road in Parkton. Burglary: After using a 5-inch-long bolt to break a window, someone entered Pioneer Pub & Restaurant in the 17400 block of York Road in Parkton and stole $100 in coins Tuesday.

White Marsh Precinct

Burglary: A gasoline-powered generator was stolen Monday from A & J Electric in the 9600 block of Philadelphia Road. The building was entered after a window was broken.

Victim identified: Police released yesterday the name of Alvin J. Howard, 27, of the 400 block of E. Eager St., as the man fatally stabbed Jan. 3 at a gas station in the 2000 block of N. Charles St. Detective Dave Peckoo released the name, hoping the man's family would claim the body. Howard was fatally stabbed by one of two men who confronted him at the gas station after he broke into a car in the 2400 block of Maryland Ave. The men, one of whom owned the car, were arrested at the scene and each was charged with first-degree murder.
