Alan McDavid

Calvert Hall, indoor track

McDavid won two events and anchored two winning relay teams, helping the Cardinals capture the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association indoor regular-season track title Saturday. The senior, an All-Metro pick in indoor and outdoor track, won the 60 meters in 6.5 seconds and the 300 meters in 34.6 seconds, and ran with the winning 1,600 and 4 x 1.5 relay teams. On Jan. 20, McDavid helped his 4 x 2 relay team finish fifth at the Princeton Relays -- the highest finish by a Maryland school.

U'tonna Sherrod

Spalding, indoor track

The sophomore continues to dominate the field among private-school programs. At the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland meet Saturday, Sherrod won the mile event in 5 minutes, 45 seconds, and the 2-mile run in 12: 41. She also was the lead leg for the Cavaliers' first-place 3,200 relay team. Sherrod has captured the mile three times and the 2-mile another three times this season. She is undefeated this season in conference meets involving both events.
