Hammond girls basketball coach Mike Mongelli will not be forced to sit out today's game at Mount Hebron.

Mongelli received a double technical with 3: 33 left in the fourth quarter of Saturday's 51-32 loss to visiting Centennial. Hammond athletic director Bob Maxey said afterward that Mongelli would have to sit out the next game. Maxey said an in-house memo dated Nov. 24, 1999 stated that coaches who are ejected would miss the following game.

Mongelli said he was not aware of the policy.

Maxey said yesterday that there was a small miscommunication between himself and principal Sylvia Pattillo, and that the rule will go into effect in the 2000-2001 school year.
