The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

East Columbia

Snowden River Parkway: 9000 block, Owen Brown. Two truck drivers waiting to make a delivery at 3 a.m. Sunday at BJ's Wholesale store said they were confronted by three men who attempted to rob them at gunpoint as they slept in the cab of their tractor-trailer. A struggle ensued, and the victims were able to wrestle the handgun away from one of the suspects. All three fled in a small vehicle. The victims suffered minor cuts and abrasions on their legs as a result of the fight.

Samuel Morse Drive: 7000 block, Owen Brown. A backhoe was stolen Jan. 26.

West Columbia

Dorsey Hall Drive: 4700 block, Dorsey's Search. A 26-year-old man stepped out of a Suzuki Sidekick at the Dorsey Hall Giant food store about 3: 45 p.m. Sunday and was struck on the back of the head. The man suffered a bump on his head and was taken to a hospital emergency room, treated and released.

Hickory Ridge Road: 10700 block, Hickory Ridge. Someone broke out a window of a restaurant overnight, entered and stole money.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Autumn Hill Court: 8800 block, Ellicott City. Someone entered a business Jan. 25 or 26 through an unlocked rear door and stole a purse containing money, credit cards and other items.

Western Howard

Ten Oaks Road: 3800 block, Glenelg. Someone cut a chain-link fence at a business Jan. 25 or 26 and entered the yard. The lock of a trailer was cut, and equipment was stolen from the trailer.
