Carroll County Food Sunday receives $7,250 from Trinity Lutheran Church

Trinity Lutheran Church of Taneytown presented Carroll County Food Sunday with a check for $7,250 during its Jan. 23 service, representing the proceeds from the church's Advent Train Garden fund-raiser.

David Hagerty, president of the board of directors for Carroll County Food Sunday, accepted the donation and presented the church with a plaque.

The Advent Train Garden has raised more than $20,000 in the past three years for Carroll County Food Sunday.

After worship, a luncheon was held to honor train garden volunteers, who included people from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Messiah Methodist Church, Grace United Church of Christ, Kiwanis Club of Taneytown, Girl Scout Troops, Taneytown Lions Club, St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church, St. John's Lutheran Church, Jerusalem Lutheran Church, and Longaberger adviser Wilma Brown.

Fire

Taneytown: Firefighters responded at 5: 03 p.m. Monday to a child locked in a car in the 2400 block of Mayberry Road. Units were out more than 1 1/2 hours.
