Three men arrested, charged with conspiring to steal pistol

Three men were arrested in Mount Airy on Sunday after being accused of conspiring to steal a .38-caliber pistol from a neighbor in the first block of N. Main St., court records show.

State police were called to the apartment of Henry Reemsnyder, who said he brandished his .38-caliber pistol and chased away some men. He said one had a shiny black coat, and he had seen them at a downstairs apartment.

Reemsnyder told police two of the men returned, forced their way into his apartment and took his unloaded pistol from a counter. He said one loaded the gun, and they left.

Police went to the downstairs apartment and located a man with a shiny black coat. He denied the allegations but led troopers to the missing pistol buried outside the apartment in a snowbank.

Arrested were: Allen F. Chesshner, 20, and Marvin D. Harrison, 21, both of the first block of N. Main St. in Mount Airy; and Tyrone Scott, 21, of the 4200 block of Towanda Ave. in Baltimore.

Harrison and Scott also were charged with giving police a false name, court documents showed.

Chesshner was held at Carroll County Detention Center in lieu of $15,000 bail. Harrison was released on a $25,000 unsecured bond and Scott was held in lieu of $15,000 bail.

All three were ordered to have no contact with Reemsnyder.
