Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Eastern District

Shooting: Two men were seated in a car parked in the 1700 block of Rutland Ave. about 5 p.m. Saturday when a gunman approached and fired several shots into the vehicle, hitting one of the men in the left forearm. The gunman escaped. The wounded man was found nearby in the 1700 block of E. Lafayette Ave. and was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he refused medical treatment.

Burglary: Someone entered an apartment in the 1100 block of E. Chase St. on Friday by forcing a door and stole a stereo system, videocassette recorder, video game equipment and other property, all valued at more than $15,000.

Assault: Police were seeking several men who attacked a 47-year-old homeless man as he walked in the 700 block of Mura St. about 5 p.m. Friday. The man suffered head and face injuries and was in good condition yesterday at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Central District

Robbery: A boy, 14, was standing at a bus stop in the 600 block of E. Baltimore St. about 9: 30 p.m. Saturday when two men robbed him of his backpack, leather coat and $30.

Robbery: A gunman forced an attendant at All Right Parking in the 200 block of Water St. to hand over the contents of a cash register about 9: 20 p.m. Saturday. The gunman escaped with $300.

Southeastern District

Burglary: Police were seeking a man who entered Chiaparelli's Restaurant in the 200 block of S. High St. in Little Italy through a door Friday morning and stole 1,000 feet of aluminum foil valued at $10.

Robbery try: A man who implied he was armed with a handgun tried to rob the G. C. Murphy department store in the 400 block of S. Broadway about 10 a.m. Friday but fled when an employee at a check-out counter called security.

Southwestern District

Stolen car/arrest: District police officers were in the 1200 block of Poplar Grove St. about 2: 30 p.m. Saturday when they spotted a 2000 Oldsmobile with Virginia tags YRV 3277 that had been rented from National Car Rental at Baltimore-Washington International Airport and reported stolen. The driver, a 24-year-old southern Baltimore man, was arrested and charged with auto theft.

Baltimore County

Essex Precinct

Robbery: A man, 32, was walking across a field in the 100 block of Mars Road about 7 a.m. Saturday when two men, one armed with a knife, robbed him of his wallet containing more than $70. During the robbery, one of the men struck the victim in the head with a bottle.

Burglary: Someone entered Freedom Drugs in the 210 block of Orems Road early Saturday through the front door and tried to remove the automated teller machine. The intruder fled before police arrived.

Woodlawn Precinct

Burglary/arrest: Police were interviewing a man arrested Thursday outside Hebbville Elementary School in the 3000 block of Washington Ave. in a series of school burglaries during the past several days in the Woodlawn area. The man, 30, was arrested by Officer Amy Crumbacker when she spotted him trying to break into the school early Thursday.
