Around town

If you're into environmentalism, alternative medicine, women's issues or Internet development in the Baltimore area, chances are you've heard the name Bonnie Raindrop. She publishes and produces print and online magazines, and co-owns one of Baltimore's top Web development companies, DoubleClickd Publications.

Now this renaissance woman is taking wing with a new interest -- falconry, the sport of hunting with birds of prey. Bonnie is apprenticing with licensed Stevenson falconer Kim Wert and spent last weekend in Virginia at the Virginia Falconers Association annual meeting. "I thought falconry was a lost art," Raindrop says, "and it was so appealing because I just love hawks and birds of prey. ... It brings you out into nature, and in harmony with the natural order of things."

Hmmm. Bonnie has spent years mastering the predatory nature of business. She ought to be a natural dealing with those high-flying predators of the feathered variety.
