Death of male treated as homicide

January 28, 2000|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

State police are treating as a homicide the death of male found early yesterday along Route 152 in Harford County by a passing motorist.

Investigators have not identified the victim, who was alive when his body was discovered about 2 a.m. near Fort Hoyle Road in Joppa. He was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died about 1: 30 p.m. yesterday, police said.

Police would not provide a description of the victim, except to say he was black, appeared to be a teen-ager and was suffering from trauma to his upper body when he was found.

Investigators from the state police special investigative support unit are checking with local and federal authorities for missing-persons reports that could help identify the victim, said Trooper Cynthia Brown.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Bel Air at 410-879-2101.
