The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

East Columbia

Woodpark Lane: 7600 block, Kings Contrivance. A 44-year-old man told police that he was putting his trash into a refuse bin about 9 a.m. Jan. 14 when two men approached. One threatened him with a knife and demanded money, he said. The assailants ran off without getting any money.

Ellicott City

Royal Ascot: 10300 block. A resident had opened his garage door at 6: 45 a.m. Jan. 15 to let his dog out when someone entered the garage and stole a bicycle. The victim confronted the thief, who escaped on the bicycle. Police found the bicycle a short time later on Breconshire Lane.

Blue Barrow Ride: 4200 block. A rock was thrown through the patio door of a home at 5: 46 a.m. Jan. 16, and a purse was taken. The purse was found in the area a short time later with the money inside missing.

Jessup

Assateague Drive: 7400 block. A 41-year-old woman told police she was walking across the parking lot of the Truckers Inn at midnight Jan. 14 when two men who said they were police officers called her over to their car. When she got to the car, one of them got out, pointed a gun at her and demanded money. She ran, and they drove away in a maroon four-door vehicle.

Washington Boulevard: 7900 block. A High's convenience store was robbed at 8: 35 p.m. Friday by a man who threatened to stab a 76-year-old clerk with a needle. After getting money, the robber drove out of the parking lot in a red Cadillac.
