John O'Meally, an assistant boys lacrosse coach with South Carroll last season, has been promoted to head coach.
O'Meally, a chemistry teacher at the Winfield school, replaces fellow science teacher Jeff Alisauckas, who joined the coaching staff at Western Maryland College last fall.
He was The Sun's Carroll County Boys Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 1998.
Cavaliers athletic director Gene Brown said he chose O'Meally out of eight applicants to maintain continuity within the lacrosse program.
"John knows who the kids are, and he knows the program here," Brown said. "He's the right fit for us."
O'Meally, a Towson University alumnus, was also an assistant coach at Westminster.
