Angels: Agreed to minor-league contracts with IF Archi Cianfrocco (played last season in Japan) and P Brett Hinchliffe (0-4, 8.80 ERA with Mariners) and invited them to major-league camp along with IF Justin Baughman, IF Keith Luuloa, IF Brian Oliver, OF Darren Blakely, OF Juan Tolentino, OF Nathan Haynes, P Seth Etherton, P Steve Green, C Bryan Graves and C Shawn Wooten.

Blue Jays: Agreed to $7.3 million, three-year contract with 2B Homer Bush (.327, 32 steals).

Cardinals: Signed P Alan Benes, P Justin Brunette, P Luther Hackman, P Mike Mohler, P Gene Stechshultz, IF Chris Haas and IF Chris Richard. Agreed to minor-league contracts with P Jim Dougherty, P Rick Heiserman, P John Hudek, P Mike James, P David Wainhouse, C David Benham, C Steve Bieser, C Henry Mercedes, C Marc Ronan, IF Casey Candaele, IF Luis Garcia, IF Lou Lucca, OF Glenn Murray and OF Ernie Young with invitations to major-league camp.

Cubs: Signed former Orioles IF-OF Willie Greene (.204, 12 HRs, 41 RBIs with Blue Jays) to one-year contract.

Expos: Named Jeff Torborg catching instructor and Maury Wills running instructor.

Indians: Agreed to minor-league contract with free-agent P Bobby Witt (7-15, 5.94 ERA with Devil Rays).

Mariners: Agreed to minor-league contract with C Joe Oliver (.201, 13 RBIs with Pirates). Agreed to one-year contract with P Ryan Franklin and sent him outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

Mets: Agreed to minor-league contract with 3B Charlie Hayes (.205, 6 HRs, 48 RBIs with Giants), who would earn $500,000 if he makes major-league team.

Pirates: Agreed to minor-league contract with free-agent IF Luis Sojo (.252 in 49 games with Yankees); invited him to major-league camp.

Yankees: Agreed to one-year contract with C Jorge Posada (.245, 12 HRs, 57 RBIs), avoiding salary arbitration.


Bucks: Activated Darvin Ham.

Warriors: Signed G-F Mark Davis to 10-day contract.

Wizards: Activated F Lorenzo Williams. Placed F Gerard King (tendinitis in left elbow) on injured list.

Fever (WNBA): Expansion Indiana team named Shelley Patterson assistant coach.
