Fire company puts new equipment into service

January 20, 2000

Union Bridge Fire Company recently put a new piece of equipment into service -- Utility 8, provided by donations from the Ladies Auxiliary.

The auxiliary's gift is one of many it has provided to the fire company over more than 60 years. The auxiliary works to provide equipment and services to the fire company, said spokesman Lou Jordan.

Fire company official Tom Garber expressed his gratitude to the auxiliary when the truck was delivered Dec. 10. Yvonne Stultz is auxiliary president.

Utility 8 will be used to transport emergency personnel and equipment to a fire or an accident. The truck also features an incident command and control center console that pulls out of the back of the unit during large-scale incidents.
