The Rusty Scupper in the Inner Harbor has a new chef, Steve Bohlman; but his new menu won't be in place till the end of February. His plan is to change to more upscale offerings, which should be no problem for someone who was chef at the Polo Grill and Lennys Chop House, and worked at 208 Talbot and Linwood's.
The delay is that Bohlman's new menu has to be approved by the Rusty Scupper's corporate office (which has granted tentative approval) and by a corporate chef, who'll visit the restaurant to sample the dishes.
"The new menu isn't as fancy as I'm used to doing," says the 30-year-old Baltimore native, "but it will be fancier than it is now."
With the new menu in place, Bohlman will be cooking dishes like pan-seared wild rockfish with corn and crab risotto and tomato coulis, and baked sea bass with Maine lobster crust. You can try some of his signature dishes now as specials on the regular Rusty Scupper menu.

Mezzanotte, at 4844 Butler Road, is a full-service restaurant specializing in southern Italian food, with an emphasis on pasta and seafood. (Scotto and his partners are from Naples.) The name Mezzanotte, which means midnight, was one of those desperation ploys that work. That's the time when the partners were trying to figure out what to call their first restaurant.
Mezzanotte is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
