Police seek man in Perryville motel shooting

January 16, 2000|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

State police were searching for a suspect who shot a man with an automatic handgun yesterday morning outside a motel on U.S. 40 in Perryville, Cecil County.

Rusty Roselle of the 400 block of Caroline St. in Charlestown was standing in a parking lot outside his room at the Relax Inn about 12: 50 a.m. when he began arguing with another man, police said.

The man pulled out a .45-caliber handgun and shot Roselle once in the stomach before fleeing in a black mid-sized car, said Trooper Steve F. Juergens of the Northeast barracks.

Roselle, who told police that he did not know the suspect, was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

Police were trying to determine what started the argument, Juergens said.
