Braves: Agreed to $1.65 million, one-year contract with P Rudy Seanez (6-1, 3.35 ERA, 3 saves). Sold contract of IF Howard Battle (.353 in 15 games) to Japan Central League's Hanshin.

Brewers: Re-signed SS Mark Loretta (.290, 5 HRs, 67 RBIs) to $11 million, three-year extension.

Dodgers: Agreed to $1.45 million, one-year contract with OF Todd Hollandsworth (.284, 9 HRs, 32 RBIs), avoiding arbitration.

Rangers: Designated OF Scarborough Green for reassignment.

Royals: Signed free-agent C Jorge Fabregas (.206 in 82 games with Marlins) to minor-league contract; invited him to spring training.


Grizzlies: Placed F Obinna Ekezie (Maryland) on injured list with left ankle sprain. Activated G Doug West.

Magic: Placed G-F Monty Williams (bruised lower back) on injured list. Activated G Anthony Parker.


American Football Coaches Association: Named Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer Division I-A Coach of the Year.

Capital Athletic Conference: Named Salisbury State G Doug King Athlete of the Week for his 32 points in two wins.
