Talbot, Calvert students win scholarships

Three students from Northern High School in Calvert County and three from St. Michaels High School in Talbot County have been named winners of Horatio Alger Scholarships for 2000, state education officials announced this week.

Jason L. Bryant of Northern and Danielle Denise Adams of St. Michaels were among 100 students in the nation to be named National Scholars, earning them $10,000 scholarships and trips to the National Scholars Conference in Washington.

Shanisha T. Fields and Milton L. Roberts, both at St. Michaels, were named State Scholars and will receive $1,500 for college expenses. Northern High's Lori C. Hinton and Jessica J. L. Benson are to get $500 Student Achievement scholarships.
