The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

East Columbia

Eaglebeak Row: 5500 block, Long Reach. Burglars broke into a home through the garage and stole money Friday.

Wild Lilac: 5400 block, Long Reach. A resident reported that someone tried to break into his home Saturday. Nothing appeared to be taken.

Lightspun Lane: 5600 block, Long Reach. Burglars broke into a house through a basement window Friday or Saturday. Nothing was taken.

Sealed Message: 9200 block, Long Reach. A bicycle was taken from a garage Saturday.

Torrent Row: 9300 block, Oakland Mills. Burglars broke into a home Jan. 5 and stole three videocassette recorders, a digital video disc player and a handgun.

Farewell Road: 9400 block, Oakland Mills. A cellular telephone was stolen from a home Monday.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Mount Ida Drive: 3500 block, Ellicott City. A man told police he was robbed Friday after he got into a car with an acquaintance. The victim said that while he was in the car, the acquaintance put a BB gun to his head and demanded money before choking him until he fell unconscious. The victim said he awoke a few minutes later and found that the acquaintance had taken off his boots and was removing money from them. The victim got out of the car, and the acquaintance and three other men left in the car.

Melba Road: 2500 block, Ellicott City. A television, videocassette recorder and vacuum cleaner were taken from a home Monday.

North Laurel/Savage

Blues Alley: 9100 block, North Laurel. Three people were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana after police seized 12 pounds of marijuana and $3,000 in cash Friday. Police searched the home about 4 p.m. after they investigated a tip about drug trafficking. Those charged were: Aswad Deen Muhammad, 21, of the 9100 block of Blues Alley in Laurel; Steve Adolphus Mason, 31, of the 7200 block of Wood Hollow Terrace in Fort Washington; and Clive Eversley Morton, 27, of the 5700 block of 29th Ave. in Hyattsville. The men were also charged with possession of marijuana, conspiracy to distribute marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Murray Hill Road: 7600 block, North Laurel. Someone smashed a glass door at a High's convenience store with a rock and stole cartons of cigarettes.

Western Howard

Penn Cross Court: 4000 block, Glenelg. Someone tried to break into a home through a basement door Sunday. The caller described the burglar as a man who appeared to be drunk. When officers arrived, the man had left.
