Tutors Needed

Area schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills. Among them:

Highlandtown Elementary School needs volunteers to tutor pupils in grades one through five in reading at the school, 321 S. Eaton St., Baltimore. Hours are flexible between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Contact: Principal Gloria E. Pulley, 410-396-9127.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, sponsored by Baltimore County Department of Aging, needs volunteers to tutor first- and second-graders in reading at a central Baltimore County elementary school, one or two mornings a week during the school year. Contact: Bernadette Hanlon, 410-887-2059.
