Coppin women fall to Howard

Mona Gail Baker had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead Howard past Coppin State, 74-67, in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women's college basketball at the Coppin Center.

With the score tied at nine with 12 minutes left in the first half, Howard (3-7, 1-0 MEAC) went on a 25-9 run over the next 10 minutes to take control of the game. The Bison led 41-24 at the break after shooting 56 percent from the field in the first half, holding Coppin State to 26 percent shooting.

In the second half, Coppin (5-9, 3-2 MEAC) cut the lead to 61-54 but got no closer. Kiesha Brooks led the Eagles with 17 points.
