Major League Baseball Players Association: Filed grievance against commissioner Bud Selig for failing to declare Dodgers 3B Adrian Beltre free agent despite Los Angeles' signing him in 1994 when he was under the age minimum of 16.

Astros: Signed P Travis Driskill, P Rick Huisman, P Brad Kaufman, P Rusty Meacham, P Joe Slusarski, P Bryan Wolff, P Eric Plantenberg and OF Marc Sagmoen to minor-league contracts and invited them to spring training.

Brewers: Named Larry Haney, Chuck Tanner, Al Monchak, Dick Wiencek, Russ Bove and Ken Califano major-league scouts.


NBA: Named Kings F Chris Webber Player of the Week after averaging 27.0 points and 10.5 assists in two games. Named Lakers' Phil Jackson (14-1) Coach of the Month.

Bulls: Activated G Randy Brown. Waived F Kornel David. Placed G Fred Hoiberg on injured list.

Warriors: Activated G Mookie Blaylock from injured list. Waived F Jamel Thomas.


Arkansas: Special teams and tight ends coach Mark Hutson resigned so he can become offensive line coach for Tulsa.

Michigan: Promoted QB coach Stan Parrish to offensive coordinator.

Missouri: Co-offensive coordinator Andy Moeller resigned to take assistant position at Michigan. Named Bill Cubit co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and Sam Pittman offensive line coach. Promoted graduate assistant Chris Tabor to running backs coach.

Navy: Secondary coach Brian Norwood resigned to take same position at Texas Tech.

Nebraska: Promoted linebackers coach Craig Bohl to defensive coordinator.

Southern Mississippi: Did not renew contracts of assistant football coaches Steve Davis and Petey Perot.

Texas: Sophomore FB Chris Robertson decided to transfer.

Texas Tech: Named Brian Norwood defensive backs coach and Ruffin McNeill linebackers coach.

Tulsa: Named Mark Huston offensive line coach and Chris Vaughn inside linebackers coach.
