A passenger in a Chevrolet Blazer was critically injured yesterday when the vehicle, trailed by police, hit a pickup truck.

Sgt. Scott Rowe, a police spokesman, said Officer Joseph Orem stopped a 1995 Blazer at North and Maryland avenues about 3 p.m. for running a red light. The Blazer then sped north on Howard Street. Rowe said the Blazer hit a Ford pickup truck heading west on West 29th Street.

Antonio Booth, 35, of the 400 block of N. Rose St., and the passenger were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Booth was treated for minor injuries and the passenger was in critical condition, Rowe said. He said the pickup driver was treated at Union Memorial Hospital and released.
