Washington (8-5) at Indianapolis (11-2)

December 19, 1999

Time: 1 p.m., Ch. 5.

Line: Colts by 6 1/2.

Vs. spread: Redskins 6-7; Colts 9-2.

Last week: Redskins beat Cardinals, 28-3. Colts beat Patriots, 20-15.

Series: Colts lead 16-9.

Last meeting: Redskins won, 31-16, on Oct. 27, 1996, at Washington.

Outlook: The Colts can win their first AFC East crown since 1987 and can clinch a first-round bye in the playoffs by beating or tying the resurgent Redskins. Even if they lose, the Colts can back into the East title if Arizona beats or ties Buffalo. This game matches two of the NFL's highest-scoring teams. The Redskins have scored 375 points, second only to St. Louis' 430. The Colts are third with 364. Washington is coming off an impressive victory over Arizona, but it will need to play even better to beat the young and sturdy Colts, who are 6-1 at home.

Notable: Redskins RB Stephen Davis leads the NFL in rushing (1,335 yards) and needs 19 to set the club single-season record.

Injuries:

REDSKINS: Doubtful: G Keith Sims (knee). Probable: TE Stephen Alexander (hip); WR Albert Connell (shoulder); TE James Jenkins (shoulder); CB Mark McMillian (chest-ribs); WR Michael Westbrook (wrist).

COLTS: Questionable: CB Tyrone Poole (head). Probable: WR Jerome Pathon (shoulder); LB Spencer Reid (knee).
