A triple shooting in West Baltimore early yesterday left one man dead and two seriously wounded, pushing the number of homicides in the city to 294 this year, police said.

Michael S. Jones, 25, of the 1400 block of N. Carey St. was arrested about 2: 15 a.m. at the scene of the shooting in the 1500 block of W. Baltimore St., according to Sgt. Berry Grant of the homicide squad.

Grant said police recovered a .38-caliber handgun that is believed to have been used in the shooting.

Jones is charged with fatally shooting Lonnie Anthony Hardy, 19, of the 2500 block of W. Fayette St.

Hardy, who was shot several times in the back, died a short time after the shooting at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Jones is also charged with shooting Rodney Richardson, 22, of the 300 block N. Mount St. in the shoulder and Lamont Jones, 19, of the first block of N. Pulaski St. in the neck.

Both men were taken to Shock Trauma. Yesterday, Richardson was in critical condition and Jones was reported stable, police said.

Detectives knew of no motive for the shooting last night.

About two hours before Hardy was killed, an unidentified teen-age boy was killed in East Baltimore.

Police responded to shots fired in the 500 block of N. Patterson Park Ave. about 11: 45 p.m. Saturday and found the youth had died from gunshot wounds.
