Army marches by Western Md., 70-49

Bowie State men fall to 0-5, but its women win on road

Despite 20 points and a career-high nine rebounds from Brian Billman, Western Maryland lost to Army, 70-49, last night in West Point, N.Y.

Army (2-2), which jumped ahead 17-4, got 16 points from forward Seth Barrett. The Cadets' lead never dipped below 11 points the rest of way.

The Green Terror dropped to 1-3.

St. Augustine 82, Bowie State 50: The host Falcons (2-2, 2-0 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) jumped to a 46-22 first-half lead and easily defeated the Bulldogs (0-5, 0-3). Bowie shot just 24.2 percent (16-for-66) from the field.

State women

Bowie State 66, St. Augustine 58: The visiting Bulldogs (3-2, 2-1) never trailed on the way to a CIAA win.

Bowie had four double-digit scorers, led by Tiffany Moss' 14. Deidre Fields added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Catholic 57, Washington College 55: Meg Hagarty led all scorers with 17 points as the Cardinals (2-1) edged the Shorewomen (1-3) in a nonconference game in Washington.

Allyson Britton led Washington College with 14 points and Daniela Rados had 12 points and a career-high 10 assists.
